Is it necessary to learn Photoshop as a Copywriter?
You are more likely to ask this question when you are just starting out your career as a Copywriter, because you are worried that whether just writing alone is enough to make a living out of it or not.
It’s okay to feel that way. I felt it too in the beginning.
When we are worried, insecure, and uncertain, we tend to fill our buckets with everything and anything we can, that we think might help us to find some stability. It’s Human Psychology.
You don’t need to learn Photoshop as a Copywriter. You can make pretty much make a fortune out of it with writing alone.
However…you shouldn’t ignore it completely as well.
Because times are changing, and you need to adapt as well.
I get it…there are many experienced copywriters out there who have generated 7 figures of income, just with written words. But when do you think those people started generating 7 figures of income?
Definitely not within 1 or 2 years of their initial career days. Most have taken at least 7 years to reach that height.
Future of Copywriting
I am pretty sure, you are pursuing this career to have an independent life. You want to have
- A flexible working hour
- The freedom to choose with whom you want to work
- The right to charge your own desired price
That’s cool.
But, do you understand that there are thousands of more people like you with the same ambition?
Almost everyone wants to become a Freelancer today. Thanks to covid.
How do you think the competition will be after 7 years?
I know, I know…I feel your rumbling stomach and disturbed mind. But that’s the reality.
So, don’t you think it will be a good idea to stay 2 steps ahead of the competition? What do you think?

I am not suggesting you to learn Photoshop entirely. That’s stupidity. Your main job is to research and write.
You just need to learn photoshop to the extent, so that you can edit basic images and create Social Media posts, or images for your blogs.
So Graphic Designers will be unemployed?
Do you really think that will happen? Jesus Christ.
No of course not. Graphic designers will not be unemployed.
Think about when computers were just coming up. People were worried, that they will lose their jobs. Did that actually happen?
Rather new kinds of job emerged, new opportunities flourished, more and more people got jobs, our standard of living improved.
See, there will be a time when you have to hire or work with a graphic designer. Because a Copywriter is not only just a writer, but also a researcher, a marketer, and someone who understands human psychology.
These things take time. So does making amazing graphics.
When you are earning heavy income with copywriting, don’t you think it’s a wise decision to delegate the work of designing to a Graphic Designer?
So, then why shall I learn Photoshop as a Copywriter?
Learning photoshop as a Copywriter will help you to reach the High-Income zone much quicker.
There are plenty of good writers out there, but hardly a few people know them, Why? Simply because they haven’t marketer themselves enough. And if you are planning to do marketing without great images…good luck.

As I told you earlier, learning Photoshop can teach you some designing skills as well. Having your personal website can increase your credibility and reach by 2 folds.
So, without Photoshop can’t I make my website? YES you can, but it will be difficult for you to make it visually appealing.
